Joe Scheck, CFA, serves as Co-Founder and Principal at Burton Capital, where he directly oversees all aspects of the firm, leading initiatives in acquisition, portfolio management, and capital raising. Before forming Burton, Joe held positions at various esteemed investment real estate companies, gaining exposure to a wide variety of roles and responsibilities.
Joe embarked on his real estate career at Essex Realty Group, a leading mid-market multifamily brokerage firm in Chicago, where he played a key role in sourcing and arranging the sale of apartment buildings. Joe transitioned from brokerage to investments, joining Supera Asset Management, a prominent real estate family office in Chicago. At Supera, he significantly contributed to various aspects of the business, including acquisitions, investments, finance & accounting, asset management, and data analytics. Prior to launching Burton, Joe was Director of Acquisitions at Knickerbocker Asset Management where he played a pivotal role in the firm’s rapid growth, acquiring workforce housing communities throughout the Southeastern US.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Joe serves as Co-Chairman of the Cohn-Weil MS Associate Board, actively contributing to raising awareness for multiple sclerosis. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga, snowboarding, and pickleball. Joe resides in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago with his wife, Alexi and their dog, Brady.
Wesley Scheck
Wesley Scheck holds the position of Director at Burton Capital, where he is responsible for sourcing, financial analysis, asset management, and supervising construction projects.
Prior to his role at Burton Capital, Wesley was an accomplished commodities trader at the Chicago Board of Trade where he specialized in hedging strategies related to agricultural futures. Wesley’s ability to analyze and forecast market trends provides him with a specialized expertise in asset valuation and investment strategies. Since his days on the trading floor, Wesley has carved a niche in the real estate investment sector, spearheading diverse projects across multiple property types. His extensive experience encompasses value-add multifamily projects, property management, investing in limited partnerships across various asset types, and direct involvement in the development of self-storage facilities.
Wesley completed his education at the University of Montana, earning a bachelor's degree in history and contributing as a member of the cross country and track teams. He holds real estate brokerage licenses in both Illinois and Iowa. Currently residing in Miami, FL, Wesley embraces an active lifestyle and is often playing music and exploring new destinations.
